How to Find Longer Words

Start from a root you trust

An accepted short word proves that a useful sequence exists in the current letter set. Preserve that sequence and test additions around it.

Do not alter three things at once. Add one prefix, suffix or repeated character so you can see why the candidate works or fails.

Use prefixes with meaning

Prefixes change meaning: re- suggests again, un- often reverses or negates, and pre- places something before. A candidate is stronger when you can explain the change.

The displayed letters still control what is possible, and the centre-letter requirement still applies.

Use suffixes with grammar

Endings can change tense, number or word class. Check -ed, -ing, -er, -ness and -ly only when they produce a normal form.

Some dictionaries exclude particular inflections, so let the live game decide acceptance.

Look inside the word

The required letter does not have to be your visual starting point unless the game says otherwise. Place it in the middle of common syllables and at the end of roots.

Repeated consonants and vowels can unlock longer spellings when reuse is allowed. Confirm that rule before depending on it.

Run separate search passes

One pass can focus on beginnings, another on endings, another on doubled letters and another on using a broad share of the set.

Separating tasks reduces visual overload and makes it clear which patterns remain unexplored.
